At approximately 4:59 p.m., Captain Shawn Stringer, Tacoma Police, and Joseph Satter-Hunt, Animal Control, provided an update on Tacoma Municipal Code Title 17 - Adequate Care for Animals, including background information, 2015 statistics, education and next steps.
Discussion ensued throughout regarding calls received, increased calls during summer months, 2016 statistics, how the law has helped with enforcement, other animals affected by the law and education provided. Chair Woodards requested data relative to visits made to homes regarding adequate care.

Discussion ensued regarding unfounded calls, return visits to homes, cruelty versus neglect, veterinarian records and TacomaFIRST 311 service request types.
